$10,000

I just reached the $10,000 plateau in my season-long quest to raise money for charity.

Check out the totals at the end of this (partial) list of donors:

It’s weird to see such a perfectly round number, but that’s how it is at the moment. If you add up all 121 pledges, it comes out to $25 per ball…and I’ve snagged exactly 400 balls this season…so we’re at $10,000 on the dot.

As a reminder, the charity that’ll be getting all this money is called Pitch In For Baseball. You can see the complete list of donors and learn more about what I’m doing by clicking here.

Thanks to everyone who has pledged money so far.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go to Citizens Bank Park…

Zack…that’s a GREAT number! Even better…its still growing. Nice work for a good cause! chris

So I was in Seattle last week (where I snagged 24 balls in three games), and I caught third-out ball that had an awesome bat marking on it. The ball was hit by Jose Lopez and the mark clearly reads his first name and what appears to be a bat model number (all in reverse of course). Check it out: http://s276.photobucket.com/albums/kk33/gbarasch/?action=view&current=DSC_5341.jpg

And here’s a reversed image:

I can tell what the middle letters of the model number are, but does anybody know what the full thing would say if it was complete? Anyway, I thought I would share that. Has anybody ever gotten this clear of a marking from a bat?

Oops. That second pic was tiny. Here’s a better link for the reversed image:

Congrats on the $10,000 mark exactly! A lot of kids are going to be playing ‘ball because of you.

Way to go Zack! Proud to be a part of it! Hope all is well…let’s catch up soon.

CHRIS-
Thanks. I don’t have TOO many more games this season, so I’m not sure how much higher the number will grow.

Nice job in Seattle, and that’s an awesome imprint you got there. I’m sorry to say, though, that I can’t help unravel the mystery. I’ve gotten a few bat-imprinted balls myself. Here are a few:

Thanks…I hope so.

All is well. Just struggling to keep plowing ahead with the book. Talk soon…

Zack,

I think you’re a pretty kooky guy, but I’ve gotten a good deal of enjoyment out of your blog the past month or two.
So on that note, can you remind those of us who are new readers how we can still donate. I am really excited by this cause.

Thanx,

brian

by the way, the Jose Lopez bat, if it’s anything like this model he was using, then it’s a “Genuine M110″ model:

I’ll be the first person to admit that I’m kooky, but anyway, thanks for checking out my blog. If you want to make a donation, go to the following page on my web site…

http://www.zackhample.com/charity.php

…and then scroll down a bit (you might want to read everything) and click on the link that says in big blue letters: “Click here to pledge.”

Then you just fill out a VERY simple form. It only takes about 30 seconds. No credit card numbers or anything. That part comes after the season, and it’ll all be done directly though the Pitch In For Baseball web site, so none of the money will ever be in my possession.

Cool?
Thanks!
