Foul ball commercials

I’m trying to come up with a list of TV commercials that have foul balls in them. Can you help me think of some?

There’s the Rolling Rock commercial in which a ball hits a bunch of people in the groin.
There’s the Coors Light commercial in which a ball nails some guy in the head.
There’s the Flomax commercial (can’t find the video) where a guy catches a ball.
There’s even a Kool-Aid commercial where Kool-Aid himself catches a home run.
There’s also a commercial that was on TV earlier this year — I forget what was actually being advertised — where a foul ball gets suspended in mid-air, and some guy reaches up through a frozen sea of outstretched hands and grabs it. Does anyone remember that? Oh…and I vaguely remember another commercial from a few years ago…it was for a sandwich place…Subway or Quiznos or something like that…where a home run ball landed in the seats, and some guy dropped his sandwich while trying to grab it, but instead of going for the ball, all the fans tried to snag the sandwich. Cute idea, but once again, I can’t remember exactly who or what was being advertised. Help me out, please! And let me know if you can think of any other ballhawking-themed commercials.

I guess I watch too much TV because I remember both of those. I think the one with the guy reaching up is MasterCard. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3shJzngjZ58) I can picture the other one and I think it’s Subway but I’m not sure.

There ws a commercial a few years back for California Grapes. The guy has a bunch of grapes in his glove and a ball comes towards him and he pulls his glove towards his chest to protect his grapes.

Can’t find it on youtube…

ELLIE-
That’s it! Thank you so much!

AYELLEN-
Thanks. Wish you had a link for me, but I’ll look into it.

hmmmm ………. I think I remember one :-P

1990 Levi’s 501 Home Run Kings – part of the early 501 ButtonFly jeans campaign

Oh and I even know a guy that was in it ….. ME!

It was done by Foote, Cone and Belding (San Francisco) you might be able to get more info from them. Spike Lee was the director/producer and a really cool guy!

Zack you probably already know this, but there is a scene on a StubHub commercial that shows a guy catching a foul ball with hand at a ballgame. On another note there is a Peter Falk movie called Roommates in which I believe Peter Falk’s character’s great grandson tries to get a foul ball at a Pirates game in Forbes Field. A older kid gets it by using his size over the little kid. Peter Falk’s character Rocky puches that kid and gets the foul ball back for his great grandson. Funny scene. Check that movie out!

I thought of another ballhawking commercial:

My favorite radio ads are the “Real Men of Genius” ads that Bud Light does. Here is the “Mr. Overzealous Foul Ball Catcher” commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU1TNgEQn4w .
I hope this helps!

Here’s a clip from “Games People Play” which mentions foul ball catches…

This was the show that Mr. T appeared in early in his career.

You have to have heard of this before, but there is the scene from Fever Pitch where the girl gets hit in the face wit a foul ball at Fenway Park, and the boyfriend grabs the ball, ignores his girl lying on the ground and stars hi-fiving everyone around him.

Hey Zack,
I saw a really good commercial 5 or 6 years back at a Royals game where they show a guy studying really hard on a players stats to the point where he figures out when and where to sit to catch a home run, then he goes to his seat, sits down, holds up his glove and has a home run hit right to him.

You should somehow mention the clip from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off where they catch a foul ball at the Cubs game….

“He canthithecanthithecanthithecanthit, swing batta, swing!”

I don’t remember any commercials you haven’t listed but in a TV show “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” one of the boys dreamt of catching a foul ball and then caught one and cost his favorite team the game by doing so.

JOHN-
Thanks for reminding me about that. I still have yet to see it. How can you NOT have it on tape?! C’mon, man, hook it up!

PARIS4242-
Thank you! I had no idea about that movie. I’m gonna see if I can get a copy of it and check out that scene.

GARRETT-
Always good to hear from you. That Bud Light commercial is a good one. Thanks for the link.

DENNISOX-
Oh MAN! I wish I could watch that actual show. The teaser is killing me!

PUCK COLLECTOR-
Yup, I already got that scene covered, although I’m trying to avoid foul ball scenes from baseball movies because they’re a bit too obvious…you know?

LAWSLUGGER-
Nice. I’ve noticed that a lot of teams have commercials with baseballs in them. Not sure if I’m gonna “go there,” but I’m still glad to know about this one.

RJMAC1-
Yup, I already got that one in the book. That scene is a classic.

CHADURO-
Whoa, never heard of that scene before. Any idea which season/episode it’s in?

The episode from Suite Life of Zack and Cody episode is from season one and it’s called “Big Hair and Baseball”. And it’s online here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoeCwNUrgVo

What mets girl posted is just the first part

ELLIE & CHADURO-
Thank you both *so* much. I totally would have missed this if not for you.

Wasn’t that peanut guy Rodger Dodger in that Zack & Cody clip? If so, they must film in LA cause he’s one of the most famous peanut vendors in the game. Always throws behind his back and always makes a strike, no matter how far he throws it.

CHASICLE-
Hmm…not sure.

I looked it up on IMDB and other sources and found out it was definitely him. Too bad they only had a split second clip. If you ever go to a Dodgers’ game, be sure to buy a bag of peanuts from him if he walks by.
