Ballhawk of the Year Award

Just found out that I was voted “Ballhawk of the Year” on myGameBalls.com. Here’s a screen shot of the first part of the article:

(Nice pink shirt, huh? That photo, in case you’re wondering, was taken just after I caught this Dan Uggla homer on 9/7/12 at Citi Field.)

Here’s a link to the whole article. Thanks to everyone who voted (for me, that is) and thanks to Alan Schuster for running the site. Also, congrats to my friend Mateo Fischer for winning the “Junior” Ballhawk of the Year Award.

So how does this affect the battle of the ballhawk apartment buildings?

I still outsnagged your building this year, yet I still think you guys win. (Context for those who have no idea what we’re talking about: Mateo and [fellow superstar ballhawk] Greg Barasch coincidentally live in the same building in Manhattan.) Also, check out the new last line of this entry.

Perhaps I’ll get a vote in 2013..

BAM! There’s your goal for the new year. You can do it.

Zach , MVB of the MLB

Sorry , that`s Zack.

Congrats! Given the fact Mateo won’t be eligible next year for Junior Ballhawk of the Year, I wonder who will win it in 2013…

Congrats to Zack and Mateo! You guys are rock stars!

RAY-
Lots of people spell my name wrong, but very few of them are even aware of it, so you get extra points, or something.

NICK-
The award is clearly yours for the taking.

LIZ-
Thanks!

I suppose those baseballs dropped form the helicopter don’t count in the ballhawking stats. kind of like snagging them …twice

Nick- I’m hoping to get higher than 11th place in Junior Ballhawk of the Year next year. If I can make it to games, I should be in good running for it. If I can’t make it to games, then it’s all yours.

Assuming I can make it to enough games, given all that I have learned, it should be fun to compete with the Cook boys and “Irish.” I didn’t recognize many other names that got votes for JBOY, so I guess I’ll have to see what I can do.

Nice work Zack, congrats!

Wow, thank you for that and the comment you left on the article (which for some reason doesn’t show up on either my laptop or phone’s “normal” browser version of the article, but shows up only when I click the link you included). Although, New York can’t miss me for much longer as I’m coming back tomorrow; albeit that I’ll be sleeping half of my visit (ideally, that is). And I don’t think I ever formally did, so congratulations on your award winning. It was much deserved. I spent a solid half-hour trying to find a reason to vote for someone else, but I couldn’t.

Oh, and thank you, Liz, but I’m far from a rock star.

There should be a 35 and older award and that’s the only one you should win Zack.

MIKE-
Exactly. But those were the balls that I’ve had THE most fun catching in my life. By far. The last Mets homer at Shea was great. Then probably Trout and Jeter. But really, nothing can compete with a helicopter.

RYAN S.-
Thank you.

MATEO-
You’re welcome. And now . . . welcome home.

WALTER-
What’s your point? That being 35 makes things easier or harder? Like, it’s not fair to all the 20-something-year-olds that I won? Explain yourself!

Zack you’re like Derek Jeter competing against high school kids. You shouldn’t even be eligible to win.
